Pacquiao vs. Bradley and Other Fights
Flying out to Vegas for another weekend of fights. Here's my quick take on 5 fights this weekend.
Kelly Pavlik vs. Scott Sigmond - Pavlik by KO. They are still rehabilitating Kelly's career so you better believe they won't put him up against truly stiff competition for another couple of bouts. As the odds are something like 50-1, I wouldn't recommend taking Kelly straight up. The KO bet works better.
Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Teon Kennedy - Rigondeaux is one of my favorite fighters right now and for good reason. The man can fight, and I expect him to beat Kennedy without too much difficulty.
Mike Jones vs. Randall Bailey - Bailey might have the power, but not the skills to pull this one off. I like Jones to win.
Jorge Arce vs. Jesus Rojas - Arce all the way. He is going through a career resurgence at the moment and now is not the time to bet against him. Also, with a potential big money fight with Nonito Donaire on the horizon, Arce's handlers won't be looking for overly competitive fights in the interim.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Tim Bradley - Pacquiao to win. Like Freddie Roach, I see Bradley as a Ricky Hatton-type fighter: face (head) first, average defense, prefers to fight in close, etc. However, even if Bradley is a Hatton 2.0 type of fighter, he still doesn't have enough power to make Manny respect him. Once Manny confirms this for himself, I expect him to take the fight to Bradley and attempt to win in crowd pleasing fashion. I see a mid-to-late round stoppage.
