Some quick thoughts on tonight’s fights.

I think Marco Antonio Rubio will give Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. his stiffest test to date.  In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled off the upset.  Truth be told, I haven’t reviewed any film recently on either of these guys.  However, my gut tells me Rubio will be a lot more competitive than people think.  If you’re a gambling man, consider throwing a little money on the underdog.

I’ve got Nonito Donaire over Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. If an older, slower Jorge Arce can get Vazquez out of there, I think Nonito can as well.  Donaire isn’t as relentless as Arce, but I think he is superior to Vazquez in terms of technical ability, which as we all know is the primary determinant of fight outcomes.  As the odds are too wide to make any money taking Donaire straight up, I would consider taking Donaire by KO.
